Quick Response to Road Service Requests in Foreign Languages!
Interpretation Service Launched for Road Service Request Calls

JAF has launched a foreign language interpretation service for road service request calls in order to accommodate requests made by foreign tourists in Japan, whose number is expected to increase into the future. The service began on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Foreign visitors to Japan increased from approximately 13.4 million in 2014 to approximately 19.7 million in 2015 (according to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO)), and this figure is expected to increase further ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Road service requests from foreign visitors are also expected to correspondingly increase, so JAF has begun providing an interpretation service for road service requests placed over the phone.

The service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in a total of 12 languages, including English, Chinese and Korean. JAF will continue to develop a variety of services that allow visitors from overseas to comfortably drive in Japan stress-free.
